Propeller Basics

Three, four and five blade stainless steel and three and four blade aluminum props are manufactured to give mid to high range performance. Aluminum props are affordable props ideal for day cruisers and ski boats with stern drives up to 250 Hp. Three blade aluminum props made of high quality die cast aluminum also perform well on stern drives. The three blade stainless steel prop is designed for higher acceleration and precision handling in stern drive boats. The four blade stainless steel prop gives excellent lift, acceleration and traction on all levels of water for sporting and offshore boats. Some four blade stainless steel props provide tough and durable performance and can be damage resistant in the most adverse of conditions. Other stainless steel designs give optimum performance for high end stern drives because of their excellent speed and easy to handle designs. High rake designs are available for stern drives that require greater lift. Five blade props give added acceleration for stern drive boats.

Durability

All Mercruiser props have excellent corrosion protection and a specially designed hub system that reduces stress on the engine. The props are fitted with a brassand a special polymer sleeve manufactured in collaboration with Dupont that is designed to break away on impact and protect the propeller and the motor from damage. Props are available with authorized dealers nationwide.
